Welcome
The Woodside Defence Families Association (WDFA) is a not for profit, well established group who support defence families posted to the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
The WDFA provides a relaxed and welcoming meeting place for members of the defence community.
We offer regular social activities at our Community Centre as well as regular playgroup sessions.
We hold morning tea / information sessions for families to attend and to meet other defence families and find out about other defence support organisations.
What We Do
We invite organisations such as Defence Member and Family Support, our local Education Liaison Officer (EDLO), Defence Special Needs Support Group, Kookaburra Kids, Open Arms, Defence Health, Soldier On and Defence Families of Australia to come along and share with the group the support they can provide.
These sessions are extremely valuable to those who attend.
X
We have a strong connection with Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS,formerly DCO) as well as the 16 REGT RAA Commanding Officer, Uni Welfare Officer and Padre.
This is important to ensure we are all working together to achieve the best results we can in supporting
defence families.
Our Coordinator is available to meet on site with families and can link them to other supports if required.
We also offer group courses to aid wellbeing and resilience, such as cooking classes, self-defence courses, gardening courses, First Aid courses and fitness/meditation.
These courses assist participants personal growth and wellbeing. This also enables people to meet others in their local community to build on community engagement.
WDFA creates opportunities for people to form new friendships and networks and share information and ideas to help them manage the demands of military life.
Values and Expectations
Here at WDFA we are supportive and community focused. We
value kindness, respect and honesty. We expect that all who
attend our events, community centre and playgroup will keep
these values in mind while connecting with the defence
community here at Woodside.
